Wellbeing Coach with a Background in Psychiatric Nursing

Helen Duyvestyn

At One Life I want my clients to understand that we all have the capacity to change our circumstances and our beliefs to build a life that is truly worth living. My biggest point of difference is my integrative approach - with my knowledge in medicine and psychiatry, health and nutrition and the psychology of the mind.

I love to work with people on creating the future they desire – and seeing the results!

I work with clients in the areas of:

  • Nutrition
  • Mental Health
  • Resilience
  • Work/Life Balance
  • Future life planning & achieving goals
  • Depression, anxiety & challenges with mood

My Story

In November 2013 I left my place of employment after 19 years of working as a nurse, 15 of those in psychiatry. I felt frustrated and disheartened with the current medical model in treating psychiatric illness – but no idea on how or what needed to be different.

I took a complete break from nursing and after much soul searching – I realised desperately wanted to do mental health differently.

I trained as a life coach and created One Life – a service based on the holistic approach of encompassing mind, body & soul as a way to well-being. To be truly well and to live a life we love, we need to approach all areas of ourselves – the way we think, what we eat, how we move - even the way we breathe can affect our mood and energy levels. This along with the knowledge from mainstream medicine is all used in my treatment approach.

Client services and programs

I work online to support my clients. I also offer group coaching.

About Me

My biggest passion is understanding the deep interaction between mind and body – and getting this working in cohesion.

I am a big supporter of mindfulness – as I feel this has so many applications in supporting us to life our lives well, make good decisions and support changing behaviours.

Personally – I enjoy the ocean, nature and gardening.

My biggest point of difference is my integrative approach – with my knowledge in medicine and psychiatry, health and nutrition and the psychology of the mind.

I love to work with people on creating the future they desire – and seeing the results!
